How to date yourself this Valentine’s Day

February is the month of love and I believe the most important relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself. So, whether you’re looking to embrace your own inner connection or simply enjoy a calming self-spa evening alone, here’s my top tips on how to spend a Self-Date Night…

Tip one: have a relaxing bath

There’s truly nothing more calming than a relaxing bath. Shutting out the outside world can really help to ground and centre you. For a truly magical experience, I like to turn the lights down low, cleanse my space with an incense and some candles, grab my favourite book and just simply sink in. I would recommend letting your family know that this is your ‘me time’, to ensure you can fully relax with no distractions or interruptions.

Tip two: indulge in deliciousness without the hangover

Yes, going all out in the evening can be fun, but realistically who wants to wake up with a hangover? Instead, pour yourself a light and breezy mocktail. My favourite is a refreshing rhubarb cordial with sugar, orange and lemon juice, rhubarb and fresh root ginger!

Tip three: give yourself the ultimate DIY manicure

Sometimes those nights curled up alone doing what you love most can be the most relaxing. So, slip into some comfy pyjamas, whack on your favourite TV show and give yourself the ultimate DIY manicure. Of course, you can choose whichever look you love most but I’d suggest a mood-boosting pop of colour!

Tip four: make your own lavender poultice

As sense of smell is one of our most powerful senses, and introducing some aromatherapy can affect our actions and emotions. As an area known for its Lavender, we incorporate a lot of locally grown lavender into our treatments here which is ideal for relaxation. Pick up some fresh lavender when you’re next out or invest in some eucalyptus leaves that you can tie around your shower head. The steam from the shower or bath will carry the drift of the aromas to create a natural scent throughout the bathroom and help you reap the benefits.

And if you’re feeling brave enough, I highly recommend a trip to the spa alone to truly feel the wellbeing benefits with no one else around!

Benefits of self-dating:

  • Grows your self-confidence and allows you to be comfortable in your own companionship
  • Prepare yourself physically and emotionally so that you can be more present in day-to-day life
  • Once you love yourself, you have more love to give others!

with love,
