World Reflexology Week – 19th to the 25th September

The Power of Reflexology

To celebrate World Reflexology Week (19th to the 25th September), I wanted to take a moment to talk about the incredible power of touch therapy, why we offer it here at the spa, and why it might be the right choice for you.

While you may think that it’s very similar to a massage (and it will feel as soothing!), Reflexology is an ancient healing art that works in a different way to rebalance energy, relieve stress, and improve wellbeing – all while creating a sense of deep relaxation. This complementary holistic therapy treats the whole human, with the trained reflexologist understanding the different points around the body, known as ‘reflex points’, such as on the face, ears, hands, lower leg, or feet, and how they correspond with other areas of the body. For example, the therapist will work around the big toe to help reduce tension headaches, or they will apply pressure to the heel to help those with digestive issues.

By working with these reflex points, the therapist can tap into the central nervous system, to relieve pain and reduce stress, through the gentle power of touch. To put it simply, Reflexology is all about working with the energy in the body and by applying light pressure to specific points, tension and blockages can be broken down and improve the flow of energy, allowing the body to work better to heal itself. Our clients (and we also have lots of staff members who love it too, including myself!) who have the treatment speak about feeling so much more energised and more in balance after a session. To get the best possible results, we recommend having a few sessions.

If there is ever anything specific that you’re worried about, please do see your GP as Reflexology isn’t used to diagnose or cure any ailments. However, it can be used as a complementary therapy to help improve a number of issues.

Reflexology can help improve:
