My favourite rituals of relaxation

In a world of constant commitments, increased time on technology and the pressure of always being ‘switched on’, it can be easy to feel stressed. Ultimately, we can become overstimulated, and this can make it hard to unwind, even when you booked yourself some much-needed downtime! So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, try one of these tips to decompress, truly relax and wind down…

Hot bath

A bath doesn’t have to be a mundane task, we can make it feel special and like a true self-care haven. My favourite thing to do is light a candle, put my phone away in another room, pick up my favourite book and just truly be with myself. You might also want to add some essential oils or bath salts to make it even more special!

Meditate

This practice will allow you to truly sit in stillness and be quiet with your own breath. Floating in the space of your mind enables you to feel more present and get clear on the things that really matter, so you can move forward with even more ease. After meditating, you may also wish to write down whatever came up for you, that way you can get your mental chatter out of your mind and onto the page. If you struggle to switch off, our Dry Flotation treatment (£92 for 60 minutes)  helps to relax the mind and body and is a great way to drift into a state of tranquillity.

Walking

This is one of the easiest, most accessible, and most affordable ways to wind down. There’s really no other feeling like strolling through nature. You could do this in silence, as you listen to the sounds of nature around you, or pop on a feel-good podcast. My favourite is Happy Place with Fearne Cotton but there’s so many options out there. Whatever you choose, you’re guaranteed to return feeling more grounded than when you left! My personal favourite is the three churches walk which incorporates the three beautiful local villages of Gazeley, Moulton and Dalham.

Treating yourself to a massage

This one is definitely more of a treat but the benefits you’ll reap are unmatched. My go-to treatment when I am feeling burnt out is our Signature Lavender Poultice Massage (£165 for two hours) which has been designed to have a totally soothing effect on the mind, body and soul. Featuring a gentle exfoliation and warm herbal poultices, heat is applied to the muscles and joints to increase blood flow and circulation. The warm lavender will totally rebalance and calm the mind and body – ah, relaxation at its finest.

Whatever you go to relaxation ritual is, try something new, you never know you might discover another relaxation experience enriching your life and enhance your wellbeing.

Until next time,
